Description

Immerse yourself in a truly French art-de-vivre with an unique olfactory journey to the Fragonard Perfume Museum in Paris, located right next door to the Opera Garnier. The perfect opportunity to discover an old private mansion sheltering a unique collection of ancient fragrance bottles. Immersed in a Second Empire atmosphere, visitors wander through a timeless space and traverse three thousand years of history.

Know-how of Grasse, vanished raw materials, ancient fragrant objects, the museum is a perfumer’s laboratory.The second part of the museum exhibits ancient artistic objects and exploits of goldsmithery. Unusual, rare and precious bottles from the Pharaohs to Fabergé are unique witnesses of social and cultural habits.

After the visit of 20 minutes, we invite you to unveil the history, the origin, the culture of this very special flower and the way it is used in perfumery. A moment of sensory and olfactory memory development with the explanation of the olfactory pyramid, the recognition of 3 blended compositions that enter into the Flower of the Year eau de toilette. During the workshop, you will create and customize, following the advices of our teacher, your own Eau de Toilette (12 ml in a spray).

This was a fun activity! We learned a lot about perfume in a short period of time, and we made our own eau de toilette! There were even men in our workshop, and all enjoyed the experience. I highly recommend this workshop - its short duration fits easily into the tourist schedule, and the location is very close to many other sights and stores.

This was such a fun and simple activity! I felt like it was more unique from the typical museum experience in Paris. I liked that it was a small group as well. Our guide, Miriam, was friendly and informative. It was so fun to make our own version of the annual signature perfume, learn about the history of perfume, and smell a handful of their scents! Highly recommend this workshop!!

I really enjoyed creating our own perfume followed by a tour of the museum and history of perfume. The staff are very kind, and our tour guide was very sweet. Highly recommend the tour, which ends at the shop were you can buy perfumes. Wish I could’ve created a bigger bottle of perfume though.

My teenage daughter and I really loved this! The mini workshop was very interesting for someone like me without previous knowledge or experience in parfumerie. The little bottle of your own creation is really a lovely parisian souvenir. After the workshop I was surprised at how much I liked the guided tour of the museum. It was informative and our guide made it also fun! All rooms are lavishly decorated. At the end we couldn’t resist buying a Fragonard original. I have already recommended this experience to my friends.

Creating the perfume was fun and easy. Learned about the process and the multitude of fragrances. Glad they keep the choices simple so one can see how different smells can come from the ratio of the various ingredients as much as the fragrances themselves. Guide was energetic and informative. The tour guide/ perfume guide was very informative and engaging in a beautiful house next to the Opera. I loved that we not only made our own scent but also got a brief history of perfume to accompany the collection of artefacts. The tour finished with an introduction to Fargonard's scents. We walked away with our own perfume, a signature Fargonard perfume (at a great price), feeling informed, pampered and blissful.

We signed up for this experience on the recommendation of a friend and could not have been more pleased with it! Paris is a favorite destination of ours, but we have never participated in an experience quite like this. The museum tour and apprentice experience was so informative and fun. I thoroughly enjoyed the mini perfume workshop. I chose this one because I was more interested in the museum tour, but also wanted to get a taste of what goes into creating a scent. Fragonard did not disappoint, and I left with my very own version of a classic Fragonard scent. I'm wearing it as I write this and the fragrance takes me right back to the streets of Paris. I would recommend this tour to anyone even remotely interested in culture and/or chemistry.

Sales pitch instead of a workshop

The workshop was more of a sales pitch for Fragonard fragrances instead of teaching about perfumery. If fragrances are your hobby, you will not learn anything here. There were no ingredients available, just premixed base, heart and head to put together for one boring citrusy-narcissus fragrance. After the workshop we were rushed along the museum as fast as possible, so we can get to the sales pitch at the Fragonard shop. The sales pitch took longer than the workshop part, to make us buy fragrance bottles from Fragonard. Definietely NOT worth the price. I do not recommend this workshop, especially if you already know a lot about fragrances.

We did this as a family to celebrate my cousin's engagement and make a perfume for her wedding and it was such a unique and special way to spend the afternoon. Loved it! We did wish there were a few more options in mixing our custom perfumes; there are only three ingredients to choose from so variations were limited. It was a lot of standing, also - chairs or stools would have been nice. But it was really fun and we enjoyed learning about how perfumes are made and the history of the Fragonard perfume makers.

not for aficionado

so i coined the term "olfactomaniac" for myself because perfumes are my hobby and passion. I have an extensive collection and thought that the perfume-making part of this workshop will be a lot more intricate, however, we were only given 3 ingredients: a citrusy top, floral mid, and amber base to use to "make" our own perfume. since i dont like florals, i could only use the top and base. so my perfume is a 2 ingredient perfume. the walkthourgh itself was alright but not too detailed or immersive. so overall, i cant really recommend this for 30 euros. i think it's too expensive for what you get and youll probably enjoy just walking around the museum on your own. i recommend saving your money for a more elaborate perfume-making workshop elsewhere where you can use more than 3 ingredients.

The three scents that the instructor gave us to work with were very limiting. I thought we could blend our own fragrance using specific flower fragrances. It was nice, but way too basic. I would pay 10-20 euros more to have a wider choice of fragrances.

I think the activity was interesting because we learned a few things, the guide was also very good making the session interactive. But I also believe that it was rather short. And the restriction on the perfume we would make wasn’t explicit in the description. I thought we would have mon choices. In my case for example I don’t like floral scents so I will not wear the perfume made. I also think it might be a bit expensive. No difficulty during the booking process or the activity itself but make sure to book really in advance. I don’t know if I will recommend the perfume workshop but I will definitely recommend the museum !

A Beautiful Experience

My husband. adult son (who is a doctor) and I had a wonderful time at this workshop! Our instructor was Yoko who did a fabulous job of teaching us about the 3 notes of essential oils and the choice we have in deciding how much of each we have in designing our perfumes for either men or women. e each walked away with a mini sample of the scent of our own design.She then gave us a thoroughly fun yet educational tour of the museum. Impressed by this perfume with purchased a five pack and additional bottles of various scents. My only suggestion is that you provide the tax forms needed for tourist to receive the the taxes back at the airport. We did not get to enjoy the discount because we weren't given the form and it wasn't provided upon request. Most of the stores we visited in the area around the Opera House did provide these forms at checkout! I really loved the quality and beauty of your products and plan to visit your factory in Grasse next time we are in France.

Beautiful venue in a great part of Paris. Staff and guide were all very friendly and easy to understand. The length of time was just right - I found the information and historical artifacts very interesting. The guide was helpful offering a variety of their scents to try. There was no pressure to purchase - but the parfum's were lovely and prices reasonable. I couldn't resist also buying some beautiful soaps. Now that I've unwrapped one for my bathroom sink - the fragrance permeates the space and reminds me of a beautiful morning in Paris!

We were in Paris for our last stop during our European honeymoon. My husband knew I have an affinity for perfumes and its history. He surprised me with the famous Fragonard Museum tour and a workshop to make my very own cologne. I had a memorable time. Sasha was knowledgeable, humorous, and kind. I enjoyed the workshop very much! The museum is beautiful and managed well by staff members who were friendly and accommodating for last minute changes. The store is spacious and brightly lit. I was particularly impressed with the soft sell at the end of the tour. It was strategically presented in a way that didn’t pressure the consumers and the set packages were priced appropriately. I can’t wait to go back to experience the other hour-long workshop. However, that would mean I need to start my French lessons now since it is only offered in the French language. Keep up the good work, Fragonard! There’s no one else like you.

I enjoyed the class and museum tour but I think one should go through the tour first. It gives perspective and information that is relevant to the activity. The workshop went fast and I didn’t quite understand all the steps thoroughly. It would have been helpful to have a pamphlet to discuss the steps in detail to better understand how the percentage of each of the three ingredients affect the final scent.

The experience was bad since I thought they were going to provide us with more information regarding the development of a perfume and really the tour is a marketing strategy where they show you the brand all the time and end up giving you to try their fragrances so that you buy them Being the Perfume museum we expected something else, not to make a simple cologne with a lot of alcohol. I am very disappointed. The only good thing was the guide. She was very nice and she tried to explain everything to us well. Although in a hurry because they had to finish quickly to sell us their products.

The workshop is quite fun, I have learnt a lot about perfumes in general, but the title and description on the website is quite misleading. We did create a perfume which was a copy of one of their fragrances for the year so we were quite limited on the artistic part. I was disappointed in the fact that the first words on the website and much of the description link more with the “creation of your own personal perfume” rather than the recreation of one of their perfumes with a certain degree of freedom. Also the particular perfume was too floral for me so I had to skip one of the only 3 oils we could use. The people I met at the workshop were quite friendly, fun and we actually went out after it.

Sue Ellen was a fabulous guide. This short but informative and interesting tour/workshop was great! I learned a lot of information about the history and actual making of perfume. If you want a fun Paris experience that doesn’t take all day this is it! I would highly suggest booking at Fragonard. We even got to take our own concoction home along with purchasing some gifts to take home. I’m definitely glad we got to do this. Fun for all ages

Although our guide's English was difficult to understand, we didn't let that dampen our experience. It was a unique experience that I would recommend doing while in Paris. The entire experience was just ok. The portion where we are to make our own fragrance was rushed and we were only given 3 different base scents to mix and match together in order to come up with our own scent, however, in my opinion it just ended up smelling similar to what the Perfumery already sells. It was more flowered scented(not my favorite type of perfume scent). It was very rushed as well as the "tour". It was short and quickly done so that they could take us to the front to sell us some of their own perfume that they sell. Over all not really worth it.. I would recommend unless you just want to do something.

Which is a feminine sent, so men from the workshop didn’t have a usable perfume. The guided tour was verry short and brief, no new details. Our guide was so sweet and patient with our group. We had three scent combinations to mix our custom mini perfume from which was less than I had hoped. Since you could only control the small amount of each, most of our final products smelled about the same. However, it was still a nice experience to learn about how the scent profiles are made and leave with a personal spray. We also toured the museum and our guide took us into the salon to sample more fragrances and make a purchase. She became our personal shopping advisor and we made several purchases because she was so patient and helpful. Honestly, some of the other employees didn't seem as helpful to tourists but we got lucky with our guide.

You can view the parfum museum on your own for free, but if you take the workshop, you get the tour with a guide and it's very informative and interesting. The items in the museum are labeled, but I got more out of it with the guide than when I walked through by myself bc I was able to ask questions. The fun part, of course, was getting to make my own eau de parfum to take home! FYI: whatever the flower of the year is for Fragonard, that will be one of the scents you make your parfum with. 2022 is the wildflower and so we had rose as the middle note, which is not my favorite, so I used the citrus (top) and musk (bottom) scents to create my own scent, which I adore! After the parfum workshop and tour, our guide took us to the Fragonard store to smell and sample Fragonard parfums. Enjoyable event!

The museum itself was fascinating. I've always been interested in perfumes and their history and evolution. I loved all the bottles. It was great to be able to learn more about how perfumes are made and play with the combinations in the workshop. I might have liked more of a choice of scents, but what we had was great. I'm still wearing my custom perfume (although I'm running out quickly). The discounts in the shop were nice. I was able to buy quite a few presents to take back to my friends in the UK and US. All in all, a great experience if you are interested in perfume!

In my opinion, this is a truly unique experience in Paris because the Mini Perfume Workshop/Tour involves all senses: touch, visual, auditory, and of course, smell. Great experience in a super nice location. I appreciated the quality/price balance. Very friendly staff. I'd recommend this experience for a nice gift. Better for newbies, less suitable for who's more expert/more into perfumes. Very limited choice of the notes (notes available are based on Fragonard frangrance of the year). While booking, please give the possibility to see the number of tickets available. I was trying to book for a slot at 3PM that was sold out, asking to add 4 people for a special occasion (bachelorette party). I was told it was not possibile because they accepted 10 people maximum, so I ask to switch for another slot at 9 AM (the switch was easy and the operator eas very friendly, though). At the end, I discovered that there were more than 10 people attending the workshop at 9 AM and this disappointed me a little bit.

The guide preferred to communicate in Spanish with the one guest. Sharing more context and explanation since she was more fluent in Spanish than in English. As someone bilingual In Spanish and English. I was disappointed. She rushed through the whole experience like she was concerned with time. I could have fallen in love with the brand or bought more in the gift shop if I understood more about the brand. The rushing made it seem like they were about to close so I needed to rush also. Really enjoyed this work-shop and tour! At first we thought we would have lots of scents to choose from, but we were provided with a top note, bottom note and heart note. The mixing of the perfume turned out to be choosing the proportions you wished. After that minor setback in the start where I had expected this would be the best part of the workshop/tour, it actually just got better and better. Our guide was fantastic, lots of small fun trivia included in the historic tour and then we finished in their shop where the guide showed us some of their new and old favorite perfumes. Also the tips on how to apply and store perfume were very useful! Fun, fact-filled and fantastic! I wonder if I will ever go back to Eau de parfum after this!? ;)

This is a brilliant way to experience the perfume making process and learn more about Maison Fragonard. Our guide was knowledgeable, interesting and spoke perfect English so nothing was lost in translation. The museum itself was compact but cool, clean and light after some of our other Paris experiences. I loved doing this with my teenager daughter and would recommend it to anyone what wants to pass a quiet, enjoyable afternoon in one of the nicest smelling places in the city! We will definitely be returning next time we come to Paris.

This was a fun late morning activity for my daughter and me. The lady conducting the workshop was pleasant and knowledgeable, and my daughter and I had fun not only making our own perfumes, but also learning about about Fragonard and the art of perfume making. Given that this workshop was not very expensive at all, it was really an enjoyable way to spend a Saturday morning. Also, shopping at the end was fun as we got to smell tons of perfumes and soaps, which is something my daughter and I really have fun with. We left with lots of Fragonard goodies outside of just the perfume that we made!

Thank you so much for an amazing and memorable experience. Of all the museums Paris has to offer, it was a literally refreshing experience. The lecture, the workshop, the explanation, the atmosphere was just magical. I would definitely recommend this extraordinary experience, and also the added value with which one goes out in the end.

Make your own perfume , misleading the guests

While the experience was nice it was misleading. We were under the impression we would be creating a fragrance of our choice, but we’re given one citrus and one floral essence which we could mix in proportion as per our choice. So not really much creativity there. For €29 it was expensive no I would not recommend this to my friends or family.

Loved our guide. I wish we could have had more choice and freedom to create our own scent instead of only three scent choices. Love the museum. I would recommend. I would do it again.

Value for money and the staff are fantastic. Well worth an hour of your time, but be warned, you are not allowed to make the scent of your choice. You get to make a variation of rose perfume. Its the same scent however you add the base and top notes, good fun but its not of your choice! This is the only reason they lose a star.

I had such an amazing time during this perfume making workshop. The whole experience was great. I would definitely recommend this to my friends. When I come back to Paris I will definitely return for another class.

I did this with 3 other people and we all loved it. I’m actually wearing my little rose perfume that I concocted right now. We learned so much, Julia our guide was the sweetest person on earth and we learned so much. I didn’t even know how interesting perfumery could be but it was so much fun! I’ve told everyone about it. Booking was easy, the process was streamlined. Do it.

From start to finish the workshop was perfect. The whole family had so much fun learning about smell, scents, the layers of perfumes, the ingredients and the history involved. Would have bought everything if it was possible!

Disapointment

We would appreciate if there were chairs to sit on. After a lot of walking in Paris we expected this to be a seated arrangement. We also would have appreciated somewhere to hang jackets and bags. Now We had to lay them on the floor. The instructions during the workshop was not so clear. We missunderstod, and therefore started with the wrong items. At the end We Stoped in the shop but by then we left as we were so tried of standing. It you hope to sell products, arrange it in a way that makes it more ennjoyable for visiters.

I really liked the whole workshop and the tour at the museum, our guide was really friendly and fun, we had a great time reviewing parfums, making our own eau de toilette and I would visit again, next time I am in paris with friends.
